Built by the lawyers who need it.
Redwell was founded by two attorneys who got tired of paying the profession’s quietest tax.
The hours of reading, sorting, and reconstructing that stand between a lawyer and the practice of law.
Why I built this.
I am a practicing attorney. For most of my career, my mornings started the same way: a hundred and fifty new emails, six matters that had moved overnight, and an hour spent piecing together what I already knew the night before.
Nobody pays for that hour. Clients do not want to be billed for it, and no lawyer went to law school for it.
The tools I tried never fixed it. Practice management software gave me more places to type what I had already read. The new AI assistants gave me fast answers I could not verify, and a lawyer cannot sign work he cannot verify.
So we built Redwell: a system that reads the mail, builds the file, watches the deadlines, prepares the drafts, and shows its sources for every claim it makes. The catching-up is done before I sit down, and nothing goes out without me. I run my own caseload on it every day, which means when something is wrong, I feel it before any customer does.
If you run a firm, you are staring at the same math I was: the work keeps growing, and the old answer, hiring more people, keeps getting more expensive. There is a better answer now. I would welcome the chance to show it to you on your own matters.

The next great firm will not be the biggest.
Law firms have always grown one way: hire more people, leverage more hours. That era is ending, and the firms that see it first will take the work from the firms that do not.
Growing with headcount
- Hire, train, and wait for the new associate to pay for themselves
- The partners’ day disappears into review, supervision, and rework
- Every new matter costs the same hours as the last one
- What the firm learned on a case leaves when the person does
Growing with Redwell
- The reading, sorting, and first drafts are done when you arrive
- The same team carries more matters without more hours
- The work gets better with every edit, not just faster
- The firm’s knowledge compounds, no matter who comes or goes

A practicing attorney who runs his own caseload on Redwell every day. Features ship because they survived a real practice first, with real deadlines and a real client on the other end. When you call, you are talking to a lawyer who had your Tuesday last Tuesday.
Donald Steinert
Co-Founder and CTO
An attorney turned software developer. He spent years in practice before he started building for it, which is why Redwell holds up under the details lawyers actually live with: privilege, deadlines, trust accounting, the things software people get wrong because they never lived them.
A founder answers the phone.
Redwell is run by its founders, and for the firms that join now, that is a feature. You get a direct line to the people who built the product, and your questions get answered by someone who can change the answer.
We bring firms on in small groups so every setup is done right: your documents, your practice areas, your way of working.
